This two-hour training is designed to provide professionals, individuals, and child-serving organizations with multiple self-care tools, a personalized self-care plan, and methods of discovering how trauma prevents them from being fully available to others.

An Introspective Look at Trauma and the Need for Self-Care

Upon completing this training, participants will be able to:

Identify three methods for self-care.

Discover how trauma may be preventing you from being fully available for others. 

Create a personalized self-care plan.

This activity is approved by Texas Psychological Association. TPA is an approved provider of professional development approved by Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists to offer professional development for psychologists.

Shawn Alex Nemeth, Trauma Survivor 

Shawn Alex Nemeth is a talented speaker, author, coach, and entrepreneur whose life purpose is to help childhood trauma survivors heal and thrive. He is also the Founding Director and CEO of Chester Street Foundation, a nonprofit he established to shine a light on childhood trauma through education and awareness.

Meet the instructor

Ann Friedman, Psychologist 

Ann Friedman, PhD, a psychologist and certified trauma specialist, works with individuals, businesses, nonprofits, and schools teaching mindfulness and effective communication through Mental Health America of Greater Houston. Working with both adults and children, Ann has provided trainings throughout Southeast Texas and in Florida, Puerto Rico, Oklahoma, North Carolina, and California. For ten years, Ann served as Adjunct Professor in the U.H. Counseling Psychology Graduate Program. She completed her Internship in Clinical Psychology at U.T. Health Science Center and her Post-Doctoral Fellowship in Neuropsychology and Behavioral Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine.
